One of the things that was disapointing to me was the inability to freely walk around with a fully painted face. Part of the fun at conventions is getting painted and going out and enjoying it. Most of the restaurants on the strip were casino driven and denied access to anyone with a face painted more then halfway, due to their security camera system (Their computers use a recognition software to identify con-artists and such). The only area we could go in public to enjoy and "strut our stuff" was the convention area, eating areas, main hallway and the streets. :o(
IMO - I fully enjoy having strangers, my friends (new and old) and instructors use me as a model, display their work and give them credit. I don't appreciate someone telling me to remove an artists work or that I can't go in a certain area of the hotel because my face is painted. Maybe it's not as important to some, but I felt like were excluded instead of included. PLEASE make sure the hotel and surrounding business are informed and there's an "all clear" for the future location. I realize there's guidelines and some establishments might baulk at the idea, but it's part of the atmosphere that makes face panting conventions unique, fun and colorful.
