It's funny that this is now becoming an issue with face painters, and that we
are hearing complaints.

This is just how things are, ask those of us that have been clowns for years!
There are places we are NOT allowed to be in face EVER.  We can't fly in face,
go into airports, banks, military bases, in all actuality we aren't even
supposed to DRIVE in face unless we have a "clown id card/badge".  Even some
hospitals, stores, and etc. won't let me in in face. And keep in mind, this is
our profession.  Models are just going out with their faces painted once in a
while.

I know it's a pain, and that going out is fun in face paint.. but the long end
of the stick is this, just like airport security (which we all complain about
and hate) I would much rather be safe than sorry.  In a place as busy as Vegas,
they have to worry about terrorists, and con artists and robbers at all times.

It's just one of those things I have come to accept over the years, and realize
it's for everyone's good.   I don't think you'll find surrounding businesses to
bend the rule on this one.  Remember - it only takes 1 bad egg to realize that
they are letting in face painted people and the cons work fast.

One of the things that was disapointing to me was the inability to
freely walk around with a fully painted face. Part of the fun at
conventions is getting painted and going out and enjoying it. Most of
the restaurants on the strip were casino driven and denied access to
anyone with a face painted more then halfway, due to their security
camera system (Their computers use a recognition software to identify
con-artists and such). The only area we could go in public to enjoy
and "strut our stuff" was the convention area, eating areas, main
hallway and the streets. :o(

IMO - I fully enjoy having strangers, my friends (new and old) and
instructors use me as a model, display their work and give them
credit. I don't appreciate someone telling me to remove an artists
work or that I can't go in a certain area of the hotel because my face
is painted. Maybe it's not as important to some, but I felt like were
excluded instead of included.

PLEASE make sure the hotel and surrounding business are informed and
there's an "all clear" for the future location. I realize there's
guidelines and some establishments might baulk at the idea, but it's
part of the atmosphere that makes face panting conventions unique, fun
and colorful.
