Just like all Delphi developers had to since Delphi 2009+. You could have entered it as one combined code point, or as two "characters" displaying as one. :-) It is a pity Lazarus IDE doesn't support Ctrl+Shift+U to enter Unicode characters - like normal GTK2 edit widgets do. It is very convenient. But they do have the Character Map I guess.
