Apples and Oranges. I honest don't care much about how things arrived where they are today. The bottom line is that Java now generates extremely efficient code, even if the written source code is not of highest quality, or not manually optimised by the developer. FPC can't do that (yet).
Use the right tool for the job. FPC is not the right tool for software rendered games (which rely on fast optimised binaries), but FPC is perfect for many other areas.
