Last Thursday the Planning Board met to decide the question of
whether to recommend to the Building Commissioner whether the changes
proposed by the applicant would be acceptable or not. The Board
carefully reviewed what the applicant had originally submitted, what
the applicant had further submitted as modifications, and what now
exists. The decision of the Framingham Planning Board was unanimous
that the recommendation to the Building Commissioner was that the
Wall should come down. On Friday, Joe Mikielian issued his order that
the Wall is to be removed. I'm still collecting information on the
details on how this process is to happen, and if anyone has more
info, please pass it along. The developer is required to submit
engineering plans showing how the Wall is to be taken down.
Ostensibly, the Wall is supposed to be down by noon next
Monday. There is also a Show Cause Hearing to be held next Tuesday
morning at the Court House.

All in all, we still have more to be done before the wall is actually
removed, but I'd like to pass this on because we don't get good news
often enough. As a general rule, this developer has cost the various
Town Boards and Commissions a huge amount of time and effort, as well
as incurred expense to himself. We all realize that it's not over and
that there are likely more incidents in store for us. But this all
bodes well and the people that helped to get this situation on the
path toward resolution should all get the recognition they deserve.

One last Postscript: The Board of Selectmen met last week to appoint
two citizens to the newly formed Building Code Enforcement Task
Force. Kathy Vassar and myself were selected to be part of a nine
person committee, where the rest of the committee is composed of Heads
from different departments at Town Hall. Our mission is to help
define better process to prevent things like the Wall from happening
in the future.
