Jon,

You need to build a conversion table. You will find the start under the
File menu. It will automatically build about half to two-thirds of the
table. Then you want to go to the Structure Development Guide, in the
FrameMaker User Manuals folder. It goes into how to build the table.
Also, the FrameMaker 7.0 User Guide has some on it (pg, 58), if you have
a copy of The Complete Reference to FrameMaker (pg 758), there is a
section in there on building conversion tables.

Good luck.

Subject: solutions for updating FM templates

Search as I might through the venerable archives, I could not find
anything to help me out; hence the posting...

Our FrameMaker templates have not been updated in about 8 years and are
starting to get rusty. Since our manuals are ever-growing (many over 1K
pages) and our time is ever-dwindling, I'd like to present to the team a
solution that is as low impact as possible.

I seem to remember some years back a discussion about mapping paragraph
tags from an old template to paragraph tags (with different names,
obviously) in a new template. I just can't remember if this solution
employed scripts or some third-party software.

Any ideas?

(Not sure if it matters, but we're still using FM 6.0.)

Many thanks in advance,
Jon Woodward
