Framemaker has an issue with its communication with some printer port types when, - and only when, and only in certain configurations - the Print to File switch is checked. One symptom is that Framemaker seem to "hang", which it actually doesn't - it waits for a response from the printer port.
Changing the printer port on the printer instance - via Control Panel -> Printers/faxes -> "The printer" -> Properties -> Ports you can assign the FILE: port. Framemaker usually doesn't "hang" when this route is followed. I thought the only way on a pc was to select the adobe pdf and then select the print to file box.
