I ran FrameMaker – forget which version though, but was probably FM 8 – on a Alienware 17” M7700 system some years ago with Windows 7 Ultimate without any problems. Fast machine at that time for sure!
So, I would be surprised if the hardware is in any way an issue. Are the files you are trying to open located on a network server perhaps? FrameMaker 9 consistently crashes when I open a file from within FrameMaker. It happens when I have to navigate from within this Open dialog. I have Technical Communications Suite 2, and I'm running the Windows 7 Ultimate OS on an Alienware 17 machine with dual 2.4Ghz processors and 16 GB of RAM. This machine is actually a gaming laptop, which my company bought for me because it was the only machine they could find with the 17 inch screen and the kind of specs I need to run our CAD software. I'm wondering if there is something incompatible with this machine and FrameMaker or maybe with Windows 7 Ultimate. Any ideas? Thanks. Martha Lee
