I am working on a personal DITA project in FrameMaker 8 with DITA-FMx, the more highly functional successor to the Adobe DITA plug-in.
I created an SVG graphic graphic consisting of a screen capture of a dialogue as a PNG graphic, a few straight lines, and some text in Inkscape and saved as Inkscape SVG. When imported into a DITA <image> element for the first time, using the excellent DITA-FMx plug-in with FM8, the PNG pixmap appeared plus the rules, but much thicker than when drawn, but no text appeared. The SVG graphic displays correctly in the Adobe SVG Viewer and Batik, and, when saved as PDF from Inkscape, also displays in Acrobat. However, Firefox displayed it the same as in FM8, that is, pixmap and rules but no text. Serna and oXygen both popped an alert that Adobe SVG Viewer 3.03 was not supported and suggested reverting to v. 3.02. Trying again in FM8, this time only the top and left sides of the pixmap appeared as a sort of upside down L, plus lines but no text. Saving the SVG graphic from Inkscape to standard SVG and running all the above tests produced the same result. Importing into FM8 unstructured documents produced the same result. It's crucial to get FM8 importing SVG graphics correctly as you cannot add leader lines to an FM graphic to be saved in an XML file -- and there are a LOT of graphics with callouts. Does anybody have a workaround for this problem?
