The key to formatting an autonumber string (whether numerical or text) differently than the rest of the paragraph is to define a character style that you include as part of the autonumber definition. To change just the color, make sure that all characteristics of the style are defined to be As Is (or empty list boxes) except for the color; the Command menu in the Character Designer has a handy "set all to As Is" command that you can use before setting the one property to be changed. -FR _________________________________________________________________ Make every e-mail and IM count.
