Hello all,

In response to Frank, I live in the EU and service/repair/buy/sell silent
Braun Nizo S8 cameras.

I was originally trained by someone who worked for Braun Nizo. I've been
doing this for over 20 years but over the last 5 or so I've invested a huge
amount of extra time and energy into it. I have over 60 camera available
for spares and can fix just about anything. The silent Nizos are, in my
opinion, some of the S8 cameras most likely to last.

So there are some S8 repair options as well as those for the Beaulieu :)

However, I'm also a sometimes filmmaker, studied film for years, have
written about it - absolutely love moving image tech of all kinds. I work
with Nizos for money - but also for all of the above. Fixing Super 8 cameras*
just* for money in 2023 could be considered a questionable move. The amount
of time, skills, investment in equipment, etc, etc required just wouldn't
match the money earned and this is why we see so few technicians these
days.

As for the Kodak camera - I also wish them luck and think something like
this helps keep the format alive. Although the price is very, very high I
think we should see this as something positive. If it fails to sell though
- which at this price it seems quite possible - I hope Kodak won't lose
faith in S8 more generally. On a positive note: I watched a video recently
on the Digital Bolex which was apparently created around a business model
of supplying film schools, colleges, etc. Hopefully Kodak have planned and
already have enough pre-sales to such customers to make the project work.
The quality of the build and long term serviceability is crucial. It would
be interesting to see inside one.

I know this isn't the right place for self promotion but if you do need a
silent Nizo repaired or serviced within the EU
- please drop me a line...

Bets wishes to all,
Guy
