It definitely can be done. I've done it at 1080.
Some ideas:
Re-export it from your editing program and double check settings, or use
Compressor, or even QuickTime can save videos in different formats. Or
Final Cut X and maybe other programs can upload directly to YouTube.
Make sure the video is h264
It may need to be prepared for Internet streaming ("fast start" is turned
on if you have any settings to check when exporting). Although this seems
to be going away - newer programs I use don't have this option anymore and
YouTube will now process your video for you after the upload.
Check your internet connection and upload speed at speedtest.net
Plug the computer into Ethernet rather than using wifi
And let the list know what codecs and settings you are using on your video.
