I #$%@#$%^&@%$^ hate useless @%!#$%@$%&^@$#^ linker error messages.

Deep breath.

I tried a few ways of adding base/src/charstore.o and
base/src/metadata.o to Makefile.in

What is the difference between a .o and a .lo object?

Arg. I attached the short error message to this message.

If someone would try mucking with Makefile.in and then configure and
make my source:  http://web.mit.edu/chrisk/www/freeamp-mine.tar.gz

The main changes are the addition of charstore.h and charstore.cpp
and metadata.h and the new metadata.cpp

#$%@#$%@%#$^ linking C++ $%#$%%^

Sigh.
