I encountered the desktop environment issues Greg. This is on KDE Plasma Desktop. Charlie is correct we do have networkmgr. To add to improving laptop/PC desktop for mobile computing, I also have wifimgr running and installed wifibox. Still validating my WiFi setup on FreeBSD 15.0 releases wifimgr(8) - https://man.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=wifimgr&sektion=8&manpath=freebsd-release-ports freebsd-wifibox - https://github.com/pgj/freebsd-wifibox Kind regards, Robert ________________________________ From: [email protected] <[email protected]> on behalf of Gleb Popov <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 18, 2026 5:40:15 AM To: Greg Wallace <[email protected]> Cc: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: Re: help getting networkmgr running On Fri, Jan 16, 2026 at 10:02 PM Greg Wallace <[email protected]> wrote: > > > Hi both! I was thinking that networkmgr was different from the linux utility > Network Manager, but maybe not? Yes, these are different things. NetworkManager is a Linux-specific daemon. We took a quick stab on porting it at Future Crew, but it turned out to be a lot of work. Porting (or reimplementing) the NetworkManager interface would allow DE native widgets to work for us. For now we're stuck with networkmgr, which is a separate project, not native to KDE Plasma.
