Is it possible to install PHP4 as a CGI module on R4.7?

I am trying to install PHP4 as a CGI module.
When doing the install from ports, it seems like
make -D STANDALONE
is ignored during the install, as the Apache API module gets installed instead.
What would be the proper procedure?
