Actually, I haven't had any trouble with USB for a long time now but maybe that's just luck. :) Had to jump through some minor hoops to get my Blackberry to mount, otherwise USB has pretty much "just worked" for me the last two years or so. Well, there was one other purchase of a portable USB HDD before this one; it wasn't recognized at all so I just returned it.
