Toshiba DynaBook SS RX1 TA106E/22W にFreeBSDをインストールしました。

FreeBSD6.2-RELEASE のCDROMからブートしインストール、
その後、CURRENTまで上げました。

とくに何も設定せずに普通にインストール可能でした。
xorgも普通に立ち上がって、1280x800の解像度で使用可能です。

オンボードNIC、無線LANも正常に動作します。
acpi_toshiba.ko をロードすることで、powerdによるCPUクロックコントロールも可能。
バッテリがどれぐらい持つかは未確認ですが、フル充電時にapmで確認してみると
約3時間ちょっとと出ました。

dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/tmp.dat bs=10240 でHDDの書き込み速度をはかってみると、
189839360 bytes transferred in 5.149835 secs (36863192 bytes/sec)
こんな感じ。

/usr/src/bin/csh のコンパイル速度(X,firefox,thunderbird起動中)は、
#time make
20.319u 4.876s 0:27.43 91.7%    6111+1043k 601+14io 150pf+0w

#time make -j 2
21.006u 4.956s 0:14.10 184.0%   6149+1051k 1+349io 0pf+0w

となりました。

今まで使用していた、Dynabook SS2120 DS11L/2(PentiumM1.1GHz Mem512)
だと、cshのコンパイルに42秒程かかっているので、ずいぶん速いですね。
Core2Duoとはいえ、クロックが1.06Gなので大差ないかと思っていたのですが。

なにか、試して欲しいことがあれば言ってください。
