There is only a small number of active developers, so this is usually a minor
issue. I doubt there is anyone working on the Map Editor, which is partly why
I suggested it.

Mainly though the number of open bugs involving the editor have been creeping
up, and I am unlikely to get to them. Now that I have a bit more time I have
grepped through my notes on the bug list and these are the ones that I know
about:

BR#3560676 game hangs when returning from map editor
BR#3523330 Native setelments don'work
BR#3507137c Editor
BR#3222013 Map move in editor fail
BR#3204041 Can not start from edited map
BR#2928728 Can not choose native profession
BR#2921948 Editor import bug

The last one is even assigned to an inactive developer, which is not good.
I have no idea if these bugs are still alive, or duplicates, or
miscategorized. See what you can find out:-). If you fix a bug, post a patch
here. The usual practice is once you have contributed a small number of
useful patches you are added to the project with commit access to the svn
repo.

You need ant, and java of course, but that is about it. I believe there is
some documentation in .../doc/developer.tex.
