Just today I was made aware of Camlistore which seems to fit the bill 
quite nicely: http://camlistore.org/

Now filed as ITP bug#630008.

Please aim specific comments on that tool at [email protected] (not 
here), both to avoid cluttering this mailinglist and to encourage wider 
(i.e also (non-Freedombox) participation in eventual debates.
