Sorry, may English is poor, but I wrote: "when used (_under FreeDOS_)
HIMEM 3.95 _from_ Win98".

I mention Win98 as owner of MS-DOS 7.1, from where come testbed
MS-HIMEM and SMARTDRV.

All what I say:
- SMARTDRV reboots when MS-EMM386 replaced by FD-EMM386 under MS-DOS 7.1.
- unimportant, which options used for FD-EMM386 in previous test.
- replacing MS-HIMEM by FD-HIMEM solves the problem.
- same trouble (incompatability of FD-EMM396 with MS-HIMEM) happens also
under FD.
No more, no less. Where is contradiction?

May you send me _your current_ kernel.sys and command.com (my archives
currently outdated, and there was many intermediated subreleases) and I
retest latest fd-emm386+ms-himem under this configuration?

Isn't FD-EMM386 should be compatible with MS software (OS and himem)?
MD> nor reference problems outside of FreeDOS operation.
Same as above?
MD> Those types of issues may, or may not, be addressed at a future date.
