If I weren't so easily distracted, I'm a person of ideas and like to see action, I did GrODIN more to show that there was someone who still cared about FreeDOS and what could be done with it. > I guess I sort of "snapped" when I sat down on 28 June and was about to > write up a "Happy Birthday to FreeDOS" news item, talking about how far > we've come, and how great it will be when FreeDOS "1.0" is released. > We've been talking about a "1.0" release since Beta7 (2001) when we > finally became stable. Almost as if we think 1.0 will show that we've hit the end of the line? What's the status on 1.0 anyway? Besides the forking in a couple of the core projects... Aren't we just about there? I mean, heck, we're even able to run Windows 3.11 in 386 mode on a development kernel - the 100% MS-DOS 3.31 kernel compatibility level can't be far away, can it? And other than some bugs in a few of the tools - as far as I can tell things are working well enough, I think it shouldn't be much further to go to get to Release Candidate status? -uso.
