I think we have a misunderstanding about the drivers:

UDF would be something for SHSUCDX, while AHCI would
be for UIDE (SATA). I do not know whether AHCI would
be useful for DOS, as SATA already is supported by
UIDE anyway and AHCI-specific performance gains are
unlikely to affect DOS. The hardware is covered :-).

The other topic is UDF, which is purely software, as
it is just a filesystem format for CD/DVD disks. If
something like SHSUCDX can support it, even if that
makes that driver big, it could  be interesting. One
could load such "UDFCDEX" only when needed and boot
with the standard ISO9660-only SHSUCDX all the rest
of the time.
