Hoi Maarten, I guess between the lines you wanted to suggest to make kernel.sys and the fdos directory read-only or system or hidden or similar? As far as I remember, this was the case for kernel but NOT anything else in MS DOS, so you could also rename or delete the DOS directory and files like command.com there.
In Windows, they added some warning message inside 32- and 64-bit Windows versions when you even try to LOOK at the Windows directory. Which annoys me. Being from the open source / Linux corner of the operating system world, I rely on users to know what they are doing. If they rename files, they will have to update things which point to them, such as their autoexec :-) I am curious what others here think about this :-) Groeten, Eric PS: Microwave is a long file name. microwav.e is a possibility but dir names with dots are weird. > I don't know if this is already said. > > But I have again installed freedos (fdbasecd.iso). > And I have the following to say: > > You can easy delete Kernel.sys and rename the dir (fdos) to whatever > you want. Like "jdjsoejap" or more serious "microwave". > Maybe (I think) this is not quite handy?! > > Greetings, > Maarten ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Monitor 25 network devices or servers for free with OpManager!
