(if sources were available and it compiles at all). if it's a puzzle (like in a crossword), use EDLIN and MASM. no C around. not even TinyC. if it's about programming something useful, use all tools available, including my favourite environment with multiple windows on multiple high resolution monitors open, the debugger doesn't interfere with the debugee, Google and RBIL only few a few mouse clicks away away. if you are up to a challenge, use a hex editor to program. they don't to much memory. if you want to do something useful with your time, use all available tools.
