Open Watcom makefiles are somewhat peculiar about non-tangible build targets, like 'clean:' for instance. You have to use a proprietary macro to make that work, but I can't quite remember it right now. It was something like %SYMBOLIC% or somesuch, else the Watcom make rebuilds stuff unneccessarily or fails to recognize build targets.
