packages that are not part of the core system and are not maintained
could still be jetisoned. I mean, that Ozone GUI thing. which is
essentially useless, and is for everyone with half a brain easily
identifyable as badly programmed can surely be chucked overboard, as I
don't think anyone is using it anyway.

Surely command.com isn't unmaintained, else we could have a bit of
problem on our hands. What I'm talking about is stuff that is
obviously non-essential. For instance, we have a vim package that is
outdated and requires extensive vim-script knowledge to even make work
under DOS. Why? If you need a halfway decent vim clone, you get one
with Open Watcom. If you are a glutton for punishment, like myself and
want a vim with all the bells and whistles, you can get it from
vim.org. The old version we are shipping is no longer maintained and
could easily be dropped.
