packages that are not part of the core system and are not maintained could still be jetisoned. I mean, that Ozone GUI thing. which is essentially useless, and is for everyone with half a brain easily identifyable as badly programmed can surely be chucked overboard, as I don't think anyone is using it anyway. > We include programs because they fullfill a function that is needed by any > DOS, > not because they are maintained. > > > > That could also help to reduce the inflation > > in neccessary installation media size. > > Sure. However FreeDOS without command.com would be a bit useless. Surely command.com isn't unmaintained, else we could have a bit of problem on our hands. What I'm talking about is stuff that is obviously non-essential. For instance, we have a vim package that is outdated and requires extensive vim-script knowledge to even make work under DOS. Why? If you need a halfway decent vim clone, you get one with Open Watcom. If you are a glutton for punishment, like myself and want a vim with all the bells and whistles, you can get it from vim.org. The old version we are shipping is no longer maintained and could easily be dropped. > Tom > Tom > > > > _______________________________________________ > Freedos-devel mailing list > Freedos-devel@lists.sourceforge.net > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-devel _______________________________________________ Freedos-devel mailing list Freedos-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-devel
