Perhaps MSDOS or 4DOS allowed longer paths, not sure about 
FreeDOS/FreeCOM. An alternative solution would be to write an individual 
batchfile for each program you'd like to run, and place these batchfiles 
somewhere in C:\DOS or so.

CD APPS
CD MYPROG
