So you have a computer with VGA output but no HDMI output? And some sort of hardware which converts the VGA signal to HDMI, so you can view it on your TV? I guess it would be easier to connect a normal monitor or have a direct HDMI output on your computer? Monitors are more likely than TV to display status information about the incoming signal, while a TV may just refuse to display unusual resolutions. I would suspect our install image to display some graphical splash screen, which might use a too "classic" resolution. When starting a computer in text mode, the resolution is most likely to be 4:3 and not widescreen like modern TV, so that could also be an issue for you. You can use MODE to select different text resolutions and settings, but that is of course hard to use without seeing what you do, not knowing if you are at a DOS prompt at all.
