we should bother about it.

Perhaps :-) Another piece of information is that the GPL (v2 at leasts) 
speaks of derived or linked work. I've read somewhere (don't ask me for 
the link) that there is still a doubt if Java libraries are actually 
considered to be linked, or not, as there is no linking per se in Java, 
as understood e.g. for C-libraries.
As you see it's going very subtile.
