I do not see the relevance of the tools for the list of Authors and 
Contributors, I would like to create a special page dedicated to the 
tools instead.

The tools provider would pr3fer it, but such solution limits the number 
of the referenced tools and potentially makes equal treatment of 
different tool providers not possible. Further I think that this 
information is of no interest for the most consumer of the main page.

So let me repeat my proposal of creating a separate page, linking to it 
from all relevant places and removing the tool list from every other 
place where it does not belong to.
