Dimitry,
I think that, at some point, we should try to find someone really good
at web page design, and have them redo our main page. There is a lot on
it, right now, and the most important items aren't necessarily the
easiest to find. If you look at the main web pages of other projects,
you'll get a good idea of what I'm talking about.
When I first went to the FreeMind site, I wanted to find a few basic things:
1) A description of what FreeMind is and what it does.
2) How to download and install it. (Usually a button to a separate page.)
3) Documentation Link
4) Link to bug reporting.
5) What's the current version?
6) Is it open source, shareware, or what?
Past that, it's good to have recent news regarding the project, but keep
it to a single page, if possible.
Some good examples: Netbeans, Firefox.com, openoffice.org.

Most people on the web hate scrolling, so it's best to have the most
important and most relevant information on the first screen of the
first page and provide good navigation. I prefer simplicity, in

I do not understand what you mean. Currently we have quite a long main
page. Should it be reworked? What information could be removed? Who
should do it? When? Should Dan who is an author of the current main page
take part? In what sense? What do you understand under "acknowledgment"
and "details"? Should every single donated license be mentioned on the
main page? What about my initial proposal
* YourKit Java Profiler sponsored by [http://www.yourkit.com yourkit]
for analysis of memory consumption and performance issues,
* Enterprise Architect sponsored by [http://www.sparxsystems.eu/
sparxsystems] for design issues,
is it "detailed" enough? What wording would you recommend?
