The only reason to patch InsertRequest.java is if we want this
functionality in before 0.4. InsertRequest.java will not contain this part
of the code in 0.4 anyways.

What I wanted from the branches was a 0.3 tree and 0.4 tree. This belongs
in the the 0.3 tree.
