Alan,

I have to admit I am mystified by your attitude.

First, the documentation clearly states that rlm_dbm_parser creates a database file. I quote from rlm_dbm in the doc directory.

" rlm_dbm_parse

rlm_dbm_parser [-c] [-d raddb] [-i inputfile] [-o outputfile] [-x]
[-v] [-q] [username ...]

rlm_dbm_parses reads a file of the syntax defined below, and writes
a database file usable by rlm_dbm or edits current database.
It takes the following options:
"

I will admit that rlm_dbm_parser is spelled three different ways in this short piece of documentation, but since there is no other program with any name even similar, I made the giant leap and assumed that the documentation refers to rlm_dbm_parser.

And yes, I did use another program trying to create what MIGHT be a working db file when I could not get rlm_dbm_parser to work. AND I admitted that this may be a part (or all) of the problem. But I am grasping at straws, trying anything that might have a remote chance of working.

I NEVER said that ALL of my testing was with virgin files. BUT I DID RUN TESTS WITH A VIRGIN radiusd.conf file and had the same results.

And at no time did I complain, I merely ask for help from anyone who might be able to offer it. I thought that was the purpose of this list. In one of my first postings I admitted that it was most likely something I was doing that was causing the problem.

And last but not least, I have attempted to convey sufficient information to give you what you might need to assist in the problem.

If you are not interested in helping me any more, that is your right. But I fail to see what I have done to cause your attitude. And I would like anyone else on the list who has seen something I have said that might invoke such an attitude to point out the same to me. As far as I can see I am guilty of only one thing, lack of knowledge and an effort to educate myself to reduce my lack of knowledge.

I don't use rlm_dbm, and the default configuration doesn't use it,
either.

Then it won't work. Do you run python programs through Perl, and
complain when they don't work?

So when you said you were using the default configuration that ships
with the server, you lied.

Thanks. I don't think I'm interested in helping you much any more.
