As I am by yours. Thanks for posting my private response to your
private message onto a public list. That shows class.

That's nice. Unfortunately, I don't use rlm_dbm for anything, so
I'm relatively unfamiliar with it. I said the same thing in my
previous message, which you helpfully quoted below. Did you miss that
statement, misunderstand it, or intentionally ignore it?

Exactly. The DBM module isn't part of the default radiusd.conf, so
nothing you do to rlm_dbm_parser (or anything else dbm related) will
affect the way the server performs authentication.

So either you changed the default configuration to use the DBM
module, in which case I can't help you, as I'm unfamiliar with that
module. OR, you're using the default configuration without the DBM
module, and expecting it to authenticate with the DBM module. I can't
help you there, either, other than to say "huh?"

What you have done is to say you're doing one thing, while you're
actually doing another. You tried to fit a round peg into a square
hole, and then complained that it didn't work. You ignored my
response that I don't know everything, and demanded that I help you
with something I've said I'm unfamiliar with.

And when I said that I disliked such behaviour, you got frustrated,
and showed more of the same behaviour, this time in a public forum.

Ignore the DBM module. You're wasting your time with it. You're
trying to set up a complex configuration before you've got the default
configuration to work (or even understood). You're trying to run
before you've learned how to walk, and are blaming me for being around
when you've fallen flat on your face.

Download the server, install it in the default configuration, and do
the test authentication as shown in the FAQ. If that doesn't work,
I'll eat your entire computer.
