Actually, yes it does look like a crypted password. Like, from a shadow file. Which is where my script is retrieving, and will continue to retrieve, password information. BTW, by your answer, it looks like you didn't even read the output that I posted. Did you? If you did, you would have noticed that there were significant differences between the two examples that I provided. > What's wrong with trying the sample configurations from the > FAQ, or "man" page? They work. I did use the sample configs. And, when using plain text passwords, they work fine. > I don't understand why you're hung up "Crypt-Local", when > you're giving it a clear-text password, instead of a crypt'd > one. I don't understand what you think you're trying to do, or why. Hung up? What do you mean, hung up? This user file works perfectly with Cistron, and the exact same radtest line works perfectly on the Cistron server. I have made the changes that (for whatever reason) freeradius wants, to no avail and with no improvement in the situation. However, in a *real life* scenario, where no one will use clear-text passwords in a users file, it does NOT work. As I have shown you again and again with my examples. > I don't understand why you're having such a hard time > getting it to work. Read the FAQ and "man" page. Read the > "users" file. Follow the examples there, and it will work. I don't understand why I'm having such a hard time either. This should be simple. I have read the FAQ, which, BTW, is almost word-for-word from the Cistron website and shows "incorrect" config lines when comparing it to the man pages and user file. I have read and followed the examples in the users file. I would think that you could provide better answers than "RTFM", especially after I have (I thought) proven to you that I have RTFM'd already, and have tried many different iterations of the examples trying to work toward a configuration that will work in my situation. However, after the responses that I have received, I believe that I will go back to Cistron and dump the idea of freeradius. At least I can get that to work. I thought I would try something new, but I don't have the time to deal with a piece of software that does not do what it's docs say it should in a given situation, or where I get dumped on for asking a reasonable question and supply supporting documentation. Believe it or not, I do appreciate the time you must spend on the mailing list. It is much more responsive than many that I have seen. Have a nice day. Sorry I have bothered you with this, and you don't have to worry about my problem anymore, or spend any more of your time on it. I know I'm not. - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe?
