Hi David,
I sent an email with a couple of screenshots from successful and failed
runs of the 700D decoder on x86. I'm happy to share with anybody else
who is curious, but I don't think the list software will let me share
them here.
The pictures are from the 3666 builds of codec2 and freedv, one each
from two different hardware configurations. The test WAV file was
re-encoded using that same build.
One hardware combination works, the other doesn't.
The only significant difference I can see in the statistics between the
two is that the failed version has a slightly higher frequency offset,
slowly drifting between -0.5 and +0.5, whereas the working configuration
hovers around 0.0 to +0.1. The sound card stats rolled forward
uninterrupted in both examples. The Sync value on the successful run is
about 0.05 higher than on the failed run. The clock offset on both
hovers around 20, slightly higher on average with the working configuration.
The hardware cable used to connect the cards is the same for all tests.
I'm still tinkering with it... it's a very curious problem. ;-) If it
was a hardware/driver issue, I would expect to see some hint of it in
the statistics, or in the spectral display, etc.
73,
Matt
