Sorry I was absent for a while there! Between family vacation, work trips,
and workload coming back I haven't had any time.

Instead of trying to go back through all the old emails I'd like to restart
a thread on the problem and see if we can get to the bottom of it.

>From what I've been able to figure out through the logs provided is that
for some reason on some systems the standard C flags are not being applied
during testing of the C compiler. Specifically --specs=nosys.specs is
needed or the compiler check "fails".

I don't necessarily need the logs this time but if you try a from scratch
build on the current SVN and can reproduce the problem, please let me know
what OS and version as well as the version of CMake you're using. If I have
to I will setup a virtual machine to see if I can reproduce the problem
there.
