If you want to develop the SM3000 entirely alone then sure. I just whip
up my own tools whenever I find a spot where KiCAD isn't quite suited.
We all have different workflows.

This is unnecessarily rude.

You should know the difference by now between libre and gratis. People
like me are very careful not to end up in a situation where we are
beholden to companies like Altium.

I tried installing Vivado on my 8-core i7 running Debian, but I had to
give up because of the amount of hoops jumping necessary. Yosys and
nextpnr by comparison are a breeze to install. iverilog, gtkwave and
kst2 work well enough for my simulation needs. I have some Makefile-
driven tests in mind as well, something which is impossible to do with
Vivado as far as I can tell.
