Mmm, It does not seem to be a bug since I can't reproduce it . Initialy I
thought it may be because I added an item without adding a SKU.
Incidently, not adding a product to a department seem to be working as
expected except that if its not in a department it wont show up with a price
and selection choice in "quick_order" but is visible in the store.

These items I mentioned which show up in the inventry and search but nowhere
else. - The only other thing I can think of is that my permissions were
wrong when I did my first "Create New Search Index" ?

another silly question, when I add gifs, should that be relative to /htdocs
on above /htdocs that or is there a special directory that they should go
in.

The quick_order screen does not currently show items that do not belong
to any department (i.e. they belong to the "root" department). I'll
talk with Leon about the desired functionality.
