I tried OpenSales for my client's site and was greeted with all kinds of
version problems on our web host's server. (previous version of Perl and the
web host wasn't planning to upgrade any time soon) Also, it required some
hacks to the httpd.conf file, which on a virtual web server, the web hosting
company wouldn't allow. In addition, the documentation said that everything
was controlled by SKU numbers...EVERYTHING!
FreeTrade, on the other hand, installed cleanly, easily, and worked with the
web host's system. The only snag I've hit was getting the secure server
connection to work, but that was quickly solved by getting our own secure
certificate. And to top it off, the documentation was very easy to get
through...kinda like "put this folder here, put that folder there, change
these lines, and you're done."
$10 million in funding does NOT necessarily make a superior product.
Microsoft "Bob" is a shining example of this. ;-)
Keep up the great work, folks!
