Hello,

I'm setting up a new shopping cart system for a small book store that is
looking to expand on the Internet (as there is no room to do so in the
store). Both Fishcart & Free Trade seem to offer what I'm looking for,
in that I'm looking for code that will work on PHP3/4 with MySQL running
on a Unix/Linux machine.

I had initially hoped to set up both and then compare how they ran &
choose from there. Unfortunately, I've run into some problems
installing both of them.. I don't have shell access to the server and
am limited to one database & using phpMyAdmin to manage the database. I
also can't use .htaccess files as the server that I am running does not
have PHP installed as a module. The server is running Solaris & Zeus/3.3
The php stats can be found here:

Fishcart!
With Fishcart, I get stumped really very early in the installation
process
 ./install.pl -d mysql

Although I do have a firewall that I could play with this on, I won't be
installing it there for the production version. Why can't I just have
access to the PHP files & the mysql tables? I'm confused by this rather
unusual installation process.

FreeTrade!
With FreeTrade I was able to get a little further, as you can see from
this URL:
        http://octopusbooks.org/shop/htdocs/index.php3

Still a really long way from working. Again, from the INSTALL there is
the assumption that you have shell access to the server. Worse still is
that it looks like this requires Apache modules to set up and run this
program. There's no way I can do that on this server...

Any suggestions? Any other applications that I should try? Is there a
more comprehensive howto somewhere?

Please let me know. Also, I expect that the database will grow into
hundreds if not thousands of records as they are constantly getting new
book titles.
