Do you use a stable or testing/unstable Debian? And besides, I already
tried to use e.g. Debian Woody's Python 2.2 instead of the runtime, but
it did not please Freevo because the binary was called python2.2 and
not python :( (OK, I have not spent much time trying to fix this,
getting the runtime was faster :)

I'll try to build my own environment for hacking freevo, then (I'm
already using my own mplayer, but this was easy to configure).
