If you have questions about this, ask at the xine-devel list or ask me. I've done some xine patching and know some internals. First see if the x version of xine has the feature already (all stdctl comands are mapped to lirc commands) and if it's there, you only need to port it to fbxine (which isn't really supported by the xone people).
Yeah, I was hacking around in there last night. I will add support for command arguments on stdctl, will be easy, this will let me do something like SetChanFrequency <frequency> and incorporate many of the Seek commands into one... I think I have that part figured out, and found which internal xine event to send.
-Create a python / Freevo interface to xine's OSD API.
Maybe very simple, add a stdctrl command message. | message: 5 hi there
could display 'hi there' for 5 seconds
Cool. There's another use for stctl command arguments. :)
