XL,XR, YT and YB make more sense to me. It's a short step to figure out what they mean, making the variable name less cryptic.
Of course, even less cryptic is OVERSCAN_X_LEFT, OVERSCAN_X_RIGHT, OVERSCAN_Y_TOP and OVERSCAN_Y_BOTTOM. Can't get much clearer than that.
