Not sdl-ttf, more a freetzpe problem. It's a bad hack. pygame is
compiled against the libs on the gentoo system, but Freevo loads some
older versions with LD_PRELOAD.

Yes and no. The binary tarball of Freevo has everything included. It
doesn't care what version of pygame is installed on your machine. Even
no pygame at all works.
