It's 32khz vs 44khz (I think) for line in, but you don't have the DA->AD conversion so it's probably about the same. > 2. The recording never ends. When it's running in the background, try typing 'ps auxwww' and look at the mencoder line; see if endpos is present. If you're using the default freevo_config, for any version you should have endpos either way.
