It's doubtful; a lot of the stuff we use is fairly cutting edge. It's
possible that it /may/ work, but I don't know if everything you need
is available.

You could try backporting the packages from unstable, but there are
quite a few:

python-pygame
xmltv-util
libxmltv-perl
python-xml
python-imaging
python-pylirc
python-twisted

Those would be the minimums. Pylirc isn't in any version of Debian,
but the CVS (pylirc.sf.net) includes debian build rules.

mplayer mplayer-fonts python
