Has anyone looked at using a Dreambox chassis for Freevo?
Those have an MPEG-2 decoder and DVB tuner, look to be
about the right shape and size for an STB, and use PowerPC
parts -- so presumably they'll run fairly quietly provided
you pick the right disk to put in it.
They also come with DVR software, but by all accounts it's
still a bit flakey and it doesn't do MPEG-4 playback (yet).
