Interesting, something is wrong because the mplayer plugin doesn't see that you are using group_type 'ivtv'. If it figures that it tells another part of freevo to channel change for it, then reads /dev/whatever with mplayer.

No, this was before I set the group type. I didn't know about that until last night.

We don't have a table for ntsc-cable, and have one for us-cable so try switching back to that one. Can you send logs from us-cable? If you get a blank screen maybe one of the VideoGroup settings is off (input_num maybe).

Yeah, us-cable doesn't complain, just gives a blank screen. I didn't try input_num because I didn't see it there. Setting it to 4 did the trick - I can now watch TV through this interface, so thanks.

Is there any benefit to using the ivtv recording plugin? The simple shell script function in VCR_CMD has recorded 5 shows successfully, but I didn't know if there were features like warning a user that the channel is about to change during a recording that require the internal recorder. Freevo doesn't seem to kill an external recording event that uses my shell script if I delete the scheduled item while partway through the recording, no surprise, but I RARELY do this and don't mind deleting the file myself.

Thanks for all your help.

Regards,
Chad
