Yeah, us-cable doesn't complain, just gives a blank screen. I didn't try input_num because I didn't see it there. Setting it to 4 did the trick - I can now watch TV through this interface, so thanks.

Great!

Is there any benefit to using the ivtv recording plugin? The simple shell script function in VCR_CMD has recorded 5 shows successfully, but I didn't know if there were features like warning a user that the channel is about to change during a recording that require the internal recorder. Freevo doesn't seem to kill an external recording event that uses my shell script if I delete the scheduled item while partway through the recording, no surprise, but I RARELY do this and don't mind deleting the file myself.

Right now the major benefit it being able to stop te recording. If you know shell or bash well enough you can trap signals in your script and kill your cat too. In the future we will add more features like notifications and tighter control. Also if you use the tv.ivtv_record plugin you can set the video and audio bitrates, stream type (mpeg1/2, TS, PS, and a choice of multiple DVD types) btw stream type 14 (dvd-special-2) seems to be the best. There are more parameters as well (IVTV_OPTIONS variable.

Thanks for all your help.

No prob.
